This mosque has had three names in its life which are Masjid Al-Abrar (current name), Kuchu Palli and Masjid Chulia.

The hut style mosque was first to be built in the now Chinatown area and can be found on Telok Ayer Street. This site was also granted a 999 year lease from the government.

It originally was a thatched hut back in 1827 and then in 1850 it was rebuilt using brick construction. It since has been refurbished in the 1980's.
