Singapore is very rich in local culture so it is no surprise that the country has many types of museums for locals and travelers to view. The different types include art, animal, war and historic museums. There are many original buildings in Singapore that date as far back as the British colonial era which started in 1867. Most of these historically listed buildings are now being progressively converted for use as museums. One of the best locations to start visiting is near the corner of Stamford Road and Hill Street where you will find four major museums including the History, Asian Civilisations, National Archives and Philatelic museums.
