Fort Canning Park

Originally built by the British around 1860 as an arms store, hospital and also barracks for the troops, the fort now becomes part of a lush large park right in the middle of the CBD.

Other history includes the first bungalow of Sir Stamford Raffles, which was Singapore’s first Government house plus old fort walls and tombstones.

Located within the park area is the cultural site called the Battle Box where you can see a recreation of the final days before the British surrender to the Japanese forces during World War II.

If you enjoy cooking, make sure you stroll around the famous Spice Garden where you can also sign up for a cooking class.

Be sure to keep an eye out for squirrels and many bird species. Admission is free.
