Leong San Buddhist

Also known as the Dragon Mountain Temple it was built in the late 1800's and is located along Sarangoon Road in Little India near Farrer Park MRT station.

The temple is dedicated to Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. The altar with an image of Confucius, which is a very popular by the local Chinese, is where parents bring their children to pray for intelligence. Only vegetarian offerings can be taken inside.

On the ochre roof tiles of the temples you will see golden dragons crouching. Also, at the back of the temple you will find the ancestral hall where ancestral tablets are shown all the way up to the ceilings with names of people who have passed on.

Attached to the Temple is the Mee Toh School which was built in 1955 and is still used daily. Previous to this school being built with donated funds the temple was used as a free school for children living in the nearby attap style houses.
