Sakaya Muni Buddha Gaya

The Buddha statue, weighing 300 tonnes that is 50 feet high, is covered in a mass of lightbulbs. It is also known as the Temple of 1000 Lights.

Here you will find a giant Buddha footprint inlaid with mother-of-pearl shell. At that statues base you will find a diorama displaying the life of Buddha and at the back of the statue you will find the reclining Buddha statue.

Vutthisara, a Thai monk who passed in 1976, provided the temple with a piece of bark - believed to be from the tree where Buddha was contemplating life and where he found enlightenment.

This temple, which is open daily, is located next to the Leong San Buddhist Temple and is only a short distance from Farrer Park MRT station.
