Sri Thandayuthapani

The Sri Thandayuthapani temple, completed in 1984, is the most famous for the 48 glass panels that provides cover for the shrine and courtyard.

The temple is also known as the Chettiar Hindu Temple, is one of Singapore Hindu community's most important monuments. The temple replaces a much earlier temple built by Indian moneylenders or Chettiars.

During the annual 'Thaipusam' festival, your will see scores of devotees who have their bodies pierced by hooks, spears and spiked steel structures called 'kavadi'.

The temple is also the end point of their walk from the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road. This act of penance is carried out by devotees in gratitude to Lord Subramanian or Murugan, son of Lord Siva, for granting their prayers of supplication.
