Sri Veeramakaliamman

This temple was built in 1881 by Bengali labourers and is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Kali, the consort of Shiva.

Kali is represented as having many hands and arms, of which her hands are carrying weapons. She is also known as the Goddess of Power, of which the word Veeramakalimman means 'Kali the Courageous'.

This most beautiful temple is open mornings and evening only. It is best viewed at night with all the coloured lights showing off the amazing designs on the entrance tower.

Women who are undergoing their monthly cycle are not permitted to enter this temple. You must also only enter barefooted.
