Tan Si Chong Su

Tan Si Chong Su is a very well preserved ancestral Hokkien Chinese temple.

The temple is also known as Po Chiak Keng and Tan Seng Haw and was constructed over two years from 1876.

It was built as the temple of the Tan clan, in the Chinese belief that people with the same surname share a common ancestry.

All the wooden carvings and granite dragon pillars were imported from China and the architecture was classical Southern Chinese.

This temple, which was gazetted as a national monument on 29 November 1974, is said to have excellent feng shui and is located close to the Raffles Place MRT station.
